"Super Saturday" FAQs

What is Super Saturday?
  • Super Saturday is an event hosted by the Adams 12 Gifted & Talented Parents Group (A12GTPG) where we've tried to create opportunities for our gifted students to have a taste of learning a wide variety of different things.

  • Student attendees register for 3 "classes" that are typically 1 hour in duration.

  • Typically, the topics are not something taught at school.

  • Classes have been held in many subject areas, including programming, chemistry, karate, robotics, film making, poetry, physics, life science and many others.

  • The age range of attendees is typically from kindergarten to 5th grade

When and where are the events held?

  • We have hosted 1 or 2 of the Super Saturday events each school year since 2014.

  • They are held at a school in the district.

Are there sessions for both students and parents?

  • Yes! Student sessions are age-appropriate and designed to be hands-on.  They are typically 50 minutes to 1 hour long. Parent sessions are designed to offer information about what to expect from the district for GT students and about special topics related to raising GT students (e.g., perfectionism, over-excitability, under-achievement, and more).

Who teaches at the sessions?

  • Instructors are community members with a passion for their profession.

  • Most instructors are friends or co-workers of the planning committee.

Can I be involved with planning or running Super Saturday?

  • Super Saturdays are completely designed and run by volunteers who are GT parents in the district.  If you would like to help, contact us at info@a12gifted.org

  • If you are interested in being an instructor, let us know.
